The Bachelor's degree programme in Nursing Science (part-time)

‘Our goal is to provide training for highly qualified nurses so that they can apply evidence-based principles and the latest findings in a range of care settings. The focus is on the individual and their family, and how they view health, illness and well-being.’

Planned course and content of the programme

The part-time degree programme takes four years (8 semesters) to complete. It can be completed in three years (6 semesters) if full credit is given for the apprenticeship.
After successfully completing the apprenticeship, you will acquire and deepen your scientific, multi- and interprofessional skills in the third and fourth semesters. In the fifth semester, simulation-based learning combines the acquisition of clinical and pedagogical skills. Students can choose between the focuses of health education or clinical nursing as part of the elective module.

Project work forms the content of the seventh and eighth semesters. The eighth semester is used to write the bachelor`s thesis. Students can expect to be at the university for an average of four days per month during the lecture period. To ensure a good work-life balance, attendance times will be announced in advance.

Forms of learning and teaching

The degree programme is varied and combines on-site study with online study phases. You will work individually, but also in pairs and groups. In addition to self-organised learning, the focus is on action-oriented learning.
The on-site study takes place in a modern learning environment at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences' health campus. Particularly noteworthy are the excellently equipped skills lab rooms, which are used to carry out simulation exercises.
