The master's degree programme in Therapeutic Sciences
The master's degree programme in Therapy Sciences builds on the skills acquired in the bachelor's programme, both deepening and broadening them. It is a response to the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and aims to improve therapeutic care in Germany.
Graduates are qualified to develop innovative care concepts, implement evidence-based approaches and work in research, practice or management.
The aim of the degree programme is to qualify graduates for interprofessional, person-centred care that is based on scientific evidence and integrates digital technologies. This includes both the development of new care concepts and their evaluation.

Study Contents
The Master's in Therapy Sciences includes the following modules and specialisation:
- Research Methods I & II (6 CP & 6 CP)
- Psychology and Pedagogy for Therapy Sciences (6 CP)
- Interprofessional Therapeutic Care (6 CP)
- Digital Technologies in (Therapeutic) Health Care (6 CP)
- Assessments & Diagnostics in Health Care (6 CP)
- Specialisation in Research and Care with Projects I & II (6 CP & 6 CP)
- Quality Management, Leadership and Implementation (6 CP)
- Subject-specific elective modules (Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy) (3x 6 CP)
- Master`s thesis and colloquium (12 CP & 18 CP)
In the first semester, the research methods and (specific) fundamentals of the therapy professions are particularly expanded and students deepen their knowledge of specific theories, models and concepts of psychology and pedagogy in relation to therapy research and practice as well as in interprofessional cooperation in health care.
In the second semester, in addition to the elective module, the focus is increasingly on care, and there is a specific in-depth study of the topics of assessments and digitalisation in care. In the elective module (project module), subject-specific scientific questions are offered that can be located in basic research, clinical research or care, evaluation and implementation research. The thematic focus of these projects enables problem-oriented, subject-specific content specialisation and the development of confidence in applying typical research methods.
In the third semester, the focus is on quality management, leadership and implementation, as well as profession-specific therapy science skills for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. In addition, ‘Research Methods II’ deepens scientific skills for independent projects.
In the fourth semester, the elective module ‘Research and Care Specialisation with Project II’, in which a subject-specific focus can be set, and the module ‘Master's Thesis: Topic Identification and Research Methods’ focus on preparing the master's thesis, with students further developing and specifying their research skills.
In the fifth semester, the focus is on the master's thesis and support in the form of a master's colloquium.
